Club Speech Contests

Speech contests are a Toastmasters tradition. Competition begins with club contests and winners compete upward through the area, division and district levels. The International competition has two additional levels -- semifinal and international.

  • Twice a year we have speech contests in our club
    • the International Speech & Evaluation Contests in spring

 

    • the Humorous Speech & Table Topics Contests in fall

 

  • The allotted time for

    • International and Humorous speech: 5 min - 7 min. A contestant will be disqualified if the speech is less than four minutes 30 seconds or more than seven minutes 30 seconds.

 

    •  
      Evaluation contest speech: 2 min - 3 min. A contestant will be disqualified if the speech is less than one minute 30 seconds or more than three minutes 30 seconds.

 

    • Table Topics Contest Speech: 1 min - 2 min. A contestant will be disqualified if the speech is less than one minute or more than two minutes 30 seconds.

 

  • To be eligible:

    • you must be a member in good standing

 

    you must have delivered six speeches (from the CC manual) prior to the contest date for the International Speech Contest

You are allowed to contest in both the International speech and Evaluation contest.
